How to Export WhatsApp Contacts to Excel or CSV from WhatsApp Web

Manually copying names and phone numbers from WhatsApp into a spreadsheet is slow when you manage many conversations. A contact export workflow can make the process more organized while still respecting what is actually visible and available in your WhatsApp Web session.

1. Sync your visible WhatsApp chats

Open WhatsApp Web, then open the extension. The visible chat list is organized inside the extension so you can work with contacts without manually building a separate list first.

2. Use Deep Scan when more details are needed

Some chats may show only a name while others may expose a number. Deep Scan processes chats sequentially and attempts to resolve additional contact names and phone numbers that WhatsApp Web makes available to the current session.

3. Select the contacts you want

Choose individual contacts or multiple resolved contacts before saving or exporting. This is useful when a spreadsheet should contain only customers, leads or a particular working set.

4. Export to XLSX or CSV

Use Excel (XLSX) when you want a ready-to-open spreadsheet with organized columns. Use CSV when you need a simple, portable format for another CRM, spreadsheet tool or internal workflow.

• Keep phone numbers as text to avoid spreadsheet formatting problems.
• Review names and numbers after export.
• Store exported files securely if they contain customer information.

5. Save useful contacts as clients

If you need ongoing follow-up, a saved client record is often more useful than a one-time export. Saved clients can include private notes and can be connected to products, services and billing information in the extension.
